Portland, OR – The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Oregon and South Washington Cascades, in effect from 11 a.m. Saturday through 5 a.m. Monday.

Forecasters expect 6 to 10 inches of snow above 3,500 feet, with 12 inches or more possible above 5,500 feet in areas such as Government Camp, Santiam Pass, and Willamette Pass. Winds may gust up to 40 mph, creating blowing snow and reduced visibility at higher elevations.

Travel could become slick and hazardous, particularly on mountain roads, bridges, and passes. Drivers are urged to carry a winter emergency kit, tire chains, and check the latest road conditions through TripCheck.com (Oregon) or WSDOT.com (Washington).

The snow is expected to develop late Saturday morning, continue through Sunday, and taper off early Monday. Lower valleys will remain mostly rain-free but significantly cooler.
