According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland, thunderstorms are most likely between noon and 7 p.m. Areas like Portland, Longview, and Salem may experience a 20-22% chance of thunderstorms. Other areas, such as Eugene and Centralia, have a 15-18% chance.
The NWS warns that residents should be aware of the potential for hazardous conditions. Lightning can strike unexpectedly, and small hail could cause minor damage. Funnel clouds are rare but possible under these conditions.
