Medford, Oregon – Scattered thunderstorms could bring damaging winds and hail to southwest Oregon and northern California between 2 and 10 p.m. Monday, posing a threat to outdoor plans and local infrastructure. Areas like Medford, Grants Pass, Yreka, and Klamath Falls are under a marginal risk for severe storms, with gusts up to 60 mph and lightning as primary hazards.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, there’s a 10–15% chance of any one storm becoming severe, with the highest risks focused on Josephine, Jackson, Klamath, Lake, Siskiyou, and Modoc counties. Hail up to 1 inch in diameter is also possible, and while tornadoes are not expected, brief power outages or downed branches may result from localized wind damage.

Drivers and outdoor workers should remain alert through Monday evening. Lightning can strike outside rain zones—when thunder roars, go indoors. Prepare by securing loose items and having multiple ways to receive alerts, including NOAA weather radios or mobile notifications.

The severe weather risk diminishes overnight, but more storms could follow Tuesday. Stay weather-aware as updated advisories may be issued.
