Portland, Oregon – Highs near 100°F and thick summer haze will grip Portland by Wednesday afternoon, threatening outdoor activities and air quality across the metro. A Heat Advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday, with officials urging residents to avoid non-essential travel and stay off I-5 and I-205 during the hottest part of the day.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread haze and smoke from regional wildfires will build after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Combined with temperatures soaring to 98°F, conditions could become dangerous, especially for vulnerable populations. Winds will remain light, offering little relief from the stagnant, smoky air.

Expect clear skies overnight, with Wednesday night lows dipping only to the mid-60s. The heat continues Thursday, with highs reaching 89°F under sunny skies. Friday and Saturday bring more sun and mild relief, as temperatures hold in the upper 80s. Still, air quality may remain poor due to lingering haze.

Looking ahead, Sunday and Monday will feel more seasonable, with highs in the mid to upper 70s and partly cloudy skies offering a break from the midweek intensity. Residents should monitor local alerts for any air quality warnings and use fans or air conditioning to stay cool.

⚠️ Warnings remain in effect through Wednesday night. More advisories may follow if wildfire smoke worsens.
