Portland, Oregon – Oregon is entering a noticeable shift in weather patterns as above-normal temperatures settle in during the February 7–20 period, bringing a more spring-like feel to much of the state after weeks of cooler, unsettled conditions.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, temperatures across Oregon are expected to trend above seasonal averages through mid-February, particularly across western portions of the state. Daytime highs are expected to moderate in the Willamette Valley, including Portland, Salem, and Eugene, while overnight lows remain mild enough to limit widespread frost concerns.

While temperatures trend warmer, the pattern will remain active. Pacific systems are expected to continue moving inland, bringing periodic chances for rain across western Oregon. These systems are not expected to stall, but passing rain events could lead to wet roads, brief downpours, and reduced visibility during commute hours along Interstate 5 and Highway 26.

In the Cascades, the warmer air mass may push snow levels higher at times, limiting snowfall to higher elevations while allowing rain at lower passes. Eastern Oregon is also expected to see a temperature rebound, easing recent cold while maintaining occasional chances for light precipitation.

The milder pattern follows an extended stretch of active winter weather across much of the country and signals a temporary break from colder conditions in the Pacific Northwest. Transportation officials advise drivers to remain cautious during rain events, particularly in urban corridors where water can pool quickly.

Forecasters stress that while the pattern leans warmer, winter is not over. Additional shifts remain possible later in the month. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates as precipitation timing becomes clearer and as any advisories are issued during the February 7–20 window.
