EUGENE, OR – A damp, restless sky stretches across the southern Willamette Valley this Friday morning as another strong Pacific system churns toward Oregon. The first drops begin to fall late morning, with heavier rain and gusty winds expected to follow — part of a wet, unsettled stretch lasting through Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Portland, showers will become widespread by midday Friday, increasing through the afternoon as south winds strengthen between 15–25 mph, gusting near 30 mph in exposed areas. Periods of steady rain continue into Saturday, with new precipitation totals between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible by Sunday evening.
Roadways along I-5, Route 99, and local low-lying areas may see standing water at times, especially during heavier bursts of rain. Commuters should plan for slower travel and reduced visibility through the weekend. Temperatures stay mild — highs near 63°F Friday and mid-50s Saturday — before dipping slightly as cooler air settles behind the front.
Saturday will bring the windiest conditions, particularly south of Corvallis and near Eugene’s foothill communities. Sunday looks equally wet but less gusty, with showers lingering into the evening. By Monday, another disturbance could bring fresh rainfall, but drier air may arrive midweek, offering a brief pause in this steady autumn pattern.
While the lowlands stay wet, the Cascades could see early season snow flurries at higher elevations. For now, residents should keep rain gear handy — Oregon’s fall storm cycle is back in full swing, and the next system already lines up for later next week, just in time for Halloween festivities.
