Medford, OR – A powerful winter storm is set to impact southern Oregon and northern California this weekend, bringing heavy snowfall, strong winds, and hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 11 a.m. Saturday until 11 p.m. Sunday for multiple areas, including the southern Oregon Cascades, Siskiyou Mountains, and parts of Siskiyou County. Snowfall totals could reach 4 feet at elevations above 5,000 feet, with gusty winds up to 70 mph.

Western Siskiyou County, including Somes Bar, Etna, and Fort Jones, could see up to 2 feet of snow above 4,500 feet, while south-central Siskiyou County, including Mount Shasta and Dunsmuir, may receive between 6 and 20 inches. Oregon’s Klamath Basin and Lake County could see up to 14 inches in higher elevations.

The storm is expected to cause whiteout conditions, with visibility dropping below a quarter-mile at times. Strong winds may lead to downed trees and power outages, especially in exposed areas.
