Klamath Falls, Oregon – A sweltering stretch of triple-digit heat is expected to grip southern Oregon and far northern California starting Saturday afternoon, with highs reaching 100°F in areas like Klamath Falls, Alturas, and Mount Shasta through at least Monday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, a Heat Advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. Monday for a broad swath including Klamath Basin, Lake County, Modoc County, and Siskiyou County. Daytime highs will range from 95 to 100°F, while overnight lows will offer little relief, dipping only into the mid to upper 50s.
Cities such as Lakeview, Dorris, Chemult, and Tulelake will also be impacted by the heat, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for outdoor workers, the elderly, and those without air conditioning. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
Officials warn that this heat wave could extend into Tuesday or even Wednesday, with additional advisories possible. Stay tuned to local alerts and take precautions to avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
