
Salem, OR – A 49-year-old man wanted for attempted murder was arrested Tuesday night following a pursuit that began in Jefferson and ended in southeast Salem, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say they first located Derrick Fuson, who allegedly had an outstanding warrant for attempted murder, riding a motorcycle with a 27-year-old female passenger identified as his victim. Around 7 p.m., Fuson reportedly fled northbound on Interstate 5, leading deputies on a chase that ended near Sunnyside and Commercial after a low-speed collision with an SUV.
According to the sheriff’s office, the roadway was temporarily closed as deputies took Fuson into custody. Both he and the passenger were transported to a hospital for evaluation and later released with no significant injuries.
Fuson was booked into the Marion County Jail on multiple charges, including attempted murder, two counts of felony elude, reckless driving, and reckless endangering. The driver and passenger of the SUV were uninjured.
