Eugene, OR – A Springfield man was taken into custody Saturday morning after allegedly firing a gun during a domestic violence incident at the Ivan Oakes Campground near Lookout Point Lake.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 8:30 a.m. to reports that Andrew Victor Meyer, 37, had allegedly shot at a woman, injuring her. Authorities say the victim reported the shooting and identified Meyer as the suspect.

Deputies arrived with an armored rescue vehicle and were assisted by Oregon State Troopers and a Springfield Police K9 unit. Law enforcement officials say Meyer was located in the campground and taken into custody without further incident. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Following the investigation, Meyer was booked into the Lane County Jail on charges including two counts of strangulation, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, and felony fourth-degree assault. Authorities also confirmed Meyer was wanted on a Marion County Circuit Court warrant for DUI, reckless endangering, and failure to perform the duties of a driver involving property.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office credited the quick cooperation of the Oregon State Police and Springfield Police in safely resolving the situation.

The victim’s current condition has not been disclosed, and no further details about the motive or events leading up to the incident were immediately available.
