Boise, Idaho – Residents across southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon should prepare for dangerous heat as temperatures soar to 100°F or higher through Saturday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Boise, a heat advisory is in effect from noon MDT Friday until 7 p.m. Saturday. Affected areas include Boise, Caldwell, Ontario, and Twin Falls, with forecast highs ranging from 95 to 102 degrees in lower elevations.
Cities like Boise and Nampa are expected to see triple-digit temperatures Saturday afternoon, with light winds offering little relief. Health officials urge residents to stay indoors during peak heat, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid strenuous activity during the day. Outdoor workers should take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
The advisory also warns that young children, pets, and older adults are particularly vulnerable to heat-related illness. Symptoms of heat stroke include confusion, nausea, and hot, dry skin—if observed, call 911 immediately.
This is the first significant heat event of the season for the region. The advisory may be extended or upgraded if conditions worsen. Stay tuned to local alerts and check in on neighbors as temperatures climb into dangerous territory.
