Portland, OR – A significant ice storm is set to impact the Willamette Valley and parts of the Central Oregon Coast Range, prompting the National Weather Service to issue an Ice Storm Warning from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 4 a.m. Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, the storm will bring up to one inch of snow and ice accumulations of up to three-tenths of an inch, creating hazardous travel conditions. Affected areas include Eugene, Salem, Albany, Corvallis, and McMinnville, as well as lowland areas in Benton, Linn, and Lane counties.

The storm is expected to create extremely slick roads, especially on bridges and overpasses, with the potential for downed trees and power outages due to ice accumulation.

Residents are urged to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. Walking surfaces will also be hazardous, increasing the risk of falls.

If you must travel, officials recommend carrying an emergency kit, checking road conditions before leaving, and allowing extra time. Power outages are possible, so charging devices and having backup heat sources is advised.

Stay updated with local weather alerts and prepare for dangerous conditions through Friday morning.
