Oakridge, OR – A Eugene man accused in a June hit-and-run that injured a pedestrian near Blue River Dam was arrested late Thursday night in Oakridge.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded with EMS on June 23 around 5:30 p.m. to a campsite near the dam after reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian. Authorities said the victim and witnesses, who knew the suspect, identified him as 32-year-old Travis Lynn Nyman of Eugene. Nyman allegedly fled the scene before deputies arrived and was aware law enforcement was actively searching for him.

On Thursday at about 11:30 p.m., Oakridge Police officers located Nyman within city limits and contacted the Sheriff’s Office for assistance. Deputies joined the scene, and after further investigation, Nyman was arrested. He was booked into the Lane County Jail on charges of second-degree assault and menacing.

Officials did not release details about the victim’s current condition. The Sheriff’s Office did confirm the arrest closes an investigation that had been ongoing for more than six weeks.

This marks the latest in a series of recent pedestrian-related hit-and-run cases across Oregon, with law enforcement agencies continuing to urge drivers to remain at the scene of any collision and immediately report incidents to authorities.
