Medford, Oregon – Medford residents should brace for intense heat Friday as temperatures climb to 98°F, with relief not expected until late Sunday when cooler air moves into southern Oregon.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday’s high of 98°F will arrive under sunny skies and calm conditions, with northwest winds developing around 6 mph by afternoon. Overnight lows will remain warm, around 61°F, before another sunny day Saturday with highs near 89°F.

Saturday night brings a shift, as north-northwest winds increase to 15 mph with gusts up to 23 mph, especially in the Medford, Central Point, and Ashland areas. That cooling trend continues into Sunday, with mostly sunny skies and a more seasonable high near 78°F.

No rain is expected, but those working or traveling outdoors should stay hydrated, avoid peak afternoon sun, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Vehicles should never be left unattended with children or pets during extreme heat.

The heat advisory does not cover Monday, but sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s will persist. More updates will follow if wind gusts prompt fire danger concerns or if cooling trends shift.
