Portland, Oregon – Temperatures across western Oregon are climbing into the upper 80s and 90s through the weekend, with inland cities like Salem, Hillsboro, and Eugene expected to see peak heat on Sunday and Monday. The National Weather Service warns that prolonged exposure could lead to heat-related illness, especially for vulnerable populations.

According to the NWS Portland office, inland communities will see highs from 88°F to 95°F on June 30 and July 1. Government Camp and coastal areas like Newport will stay cooler, with temps topping out in the 70s. Cities such as Eugene and Salem are forecast to reach 91°F or higher on both Sunday and Monday, with minimal overnight relief.

Residents are urged to drink water regularly, limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, and wear light-colored clothing. Sunscreen with SPF 30+ should be reapplied every two hours, and neighbors should check in on seniors or those without air conditioning.

This warm-up follows a cooler-than-average start to June but marks the season’s first significant inland heat stretch.

Temperatures remain elevated through Tuesday, with additional advisories possible if conditions worsen.
