Medford, Ore. – Triple-digit temperatures will bake southern Oregon and far northern California through 8 p.m. Wednesday, with limited relief overnight as low temperatures hover in the 60s.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, a heat advisory remains in effect for Jackson, Josephine, and Douglas counties in Oregon, and for Siskiyou County in California. Cities including Medford, Grants Pass, Roseburg, and Yreka can expect highs from 96 to 105 degrees today, with nighttime lows staying well above average.

Communities in the Rogue, Illinois, Shasta, Scott, and Klamath River valleys will feel the brunt of the heat. The Umpqua Basin, including Roseburg, Camas Valley, and Myrtle Creek, will also experience highs in the upper 90s to near 100.

Residents without access to air conditioning or cooling shelters face the highest risk for heat-related illness. Officials urge residents to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during peak heat, and check on vulnerable neighbors or family.

This is the region’s hottest stretch of the summer so far, with similar heat last recorded in July 2022.

Warnings remain in effect until 8 p.m., with further advisories possible if temperatures persist into Thursday.
