Medford, OR — Residents across Oregon should prepare for wet and cold conditions this Halloween week as multiple weather fronts move through the region, bringing widespread rain, mountain snow, and chilly temperatures. Those traveling through the Cascade passes or planning outdoor Halloween activities are urged to take precautions.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, the week begins with showers and snow showers primarily west of the Cascades. Monday’s snow levels are expected between 4,500 to 5,000 feet, signaling challenging travel conditions across mountain routes. Tuesday will offer a brief respite, with drier conditions, although showers may linger in the Cascades.

Halloween (Wednesday) is forecasted to be one of the wettest days, with rain intensifying through the evening when trick-or-treaters are likely to be out. Rain is expected to be moderate to heavy, with snow levels initially around 5,500 to 6,000 feet, dropping to 4,000 feet overnight. The National Weather Service warns that prime trick-or-treat hours from 5 to 10 p.m. may be particularly rainy, with an 80% chance of precipitation in most areas.

Those in coastal and Cascade regions should anticipate significant rainfall, with a 90% chance of rain along the coast in the afternoon and a slight decrease by late evening. Temperatures are projected to range from 50 to 60 degrees in the afternoon, dropping into the 40s by nightfall.

As the week progresses, unsettled conditions will persist into Friday and potentially the weekend, with showers and possibly another round of snow in high elevations. Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts, avoid unnecessary travel through mountain passes, and plan alternative indoor Halloween events to ensure safety amidst the damp and chilly forecast.
