Pendleton, OR – Halloween night is shaping up to be a wet and chilly one across eastern Oregon, as rain showers and freezing temperatures are expected. Trick-or-treaters and their families are urged to bundle up, as low temperatures near 32°F and rain showers will create a damp, cold evening. Those celebrating outdoors should prepare with warm clothing and umbrellas for a safe Halloween night.
According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, rain will start late today, with temperatures dropping to freezing overnight, especially at higher elevations. These cold conditions are part of a larger weather pattern that will impact the region for the next few days. A Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for the Oregon Cascades, where snowfall above 4,000 feet could bring up to 8 inches by Friday.
Through Thursday, areas in and around Pendleton are forecasted to see continuous rain and lower temperatures. Thursday night is expected to be even colder, with lows near 37°F and an 80% chance of rain continuing into Friday. Rain will persist through Friday and Saturday, with highs in the low 50s and lows dipping to the low 30s, keeping the weekend damp and chilly.
Mountain passes, especially near the Santiam Pass, are predicted to receive significant snowfall, potentially impacting travel along Cascade routes. Drivers in these areas are advised to monitor road conditions closely and prepare for possible snow-covered roads and limited visibility.
This rainy, snowy pattern is expected to continue through the weekend, with only a slight chance of clearing on Sunday. Residents should stay updated on changing forecasts and drive with caution in affected mountain areas.
