EUGENE, OR – Drivers in Eugene and surrounding areas are urged to exercise caution as dense fog blankets the region, reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less until 9 a.m. on Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for the Central and Southern Willamette Valley, affecting major routes in the area. Commuters are advised to allow extra travel time and increase following distances to navigate these potentially hazardous conditions safely.
According to the National Weather Service, the dense fog is expected to lift later in the morning, but patchy frost could persist, especially in low-lying areas. This morning’s foggy conditions are just the beginning of a cold and unsettled weather pattern that will dominate Eugene’s forecast through the weekend.
Following Wednesday’s advisory, Thursday is expected to begin with areas of frost as temperatures drop to around 37 degrees overnight. With a high near 52 degrees and sunny skies by afternoon, Thursday offers a brief respite before rain returns on Friday night. Friday’s high of 64 degrees will be accompanied by increasing cloudiness, with a 50 percent chance of rain by evening. Showers are likely to intensify into Saturday and continue through Sunday.
