Corvallis, OR – A fast-moving wildfire in northeast Corvallis forced Level 3 “Go Now” evacuations Saturday afternoon before firefighters quickly contained the blaze.
According to the Corvallis Fire Department, crews responded around 3:00 p.m. to a wildfire near NE Granger Avenue and NE Pettibone Drive. The fire spread rapidly, prompting immediate evacuation orders for nearby homes.
By about 4:15 p.m., fire crews had stopped the forward progress of the blaze. Officials said strong coordination between local, county, and state agencies was instrumental in preventing further spread.
Evacuation orders were lifted later in the evening, and no injuries were reported. The only structural loss was a small outbuilding. Firefighters remained in the area overnight to monitor for flare-ups and conduct mop-up operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Corvallis Fire Department reported receiving mutual aid from Benton County fire agencies, neighboring counties including Linn, Lane, Marion, Polk, and Lincoln, and the Oregon Department of Forestry. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office assisted with emergency alerts and evacuation efforts.
