Pendleton, OR – Drivers across northeastern Oregon are being urged to exercise caution as dense fog blankets the region this morning, severely limiting visibility on key roadways, including ORE11 and OR204. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a dense fog advisory, in effect until 10 a.m. Friday, warning of visibility dropping to a quarter-mile or less.

According to the NWS, the fog is impacting areas in the foothills of the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon and the Blue Mountains of Washington. Low visibility could create hazardous travel conditions, especially along key travel routes. Drivers are encouraged to reduce speeds, use headlights, and maintain a safe following distance to avoid accidents.

The fog will likely persist through the early morning hours before giving way to mostly cloudy skies by Friday afternoon, with temperatures reaching 45°F. However, rain is expected to move in late Saturday, with a 70% chance of precipitation, making outdoor plans tricky. Rain will continue Sunday, with a high of 47°F, and remain steady into Monday night.

For travelers, these conditions could create potential delays over the weekend, particularly with holiday traffic increasing. Residents should prepare for slick roads and monitor weather updates closely.

By Tuesday, the forecast predicts a slight chance of rain with clearer skies expected by Christmas Day, providing some reprieve. Residents are urged to remain cautious through the weekend as weather conditions could fluctuate.
