Eugene, OR – Residents across the Willamette Valley are bracing for bitterly cold conditions through Sunday as a cold weather advisory remains in effect. With temperatures dipping into the 20s overnight, frost and freezing conditions are expected to continue.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will last until 10 a.m. Sunday, with very cold temperatures as low as 20 degrees in some areas. Daytime highs will reach the mid-40s under sunny skies, offering brief relief, but freezing conditions will return overnight. Precautions are recommended to prevent frostbite or hypothermia.
Travelers and outdoor enthusiasts should prepare for icy conditions. Residents are urged to bundle up, cover exposed skin, and check on vulnerable neighbors. If driving, use caution on local roadways, especially Highway 126, as frosty mornings may lead to slick patches.
Looking ahead, sunny but chilly conditions will dominate through Tuesday. Daytime highs are expected to climb slightly, reaching 47 degrees by Tuesday, but widespread frost will persist during early morning hours. Residents should protect outdoor plants and consider dripping faucets to prevent frozen pipes.
