Medford, OR – The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning and Wind Advisory for much of the south-central and southern Oregon coast, including Bandon, Coos Bay, North Bend, Port Orford, and Gold Beach, as strong winds are expected to peak on Saturday, October 25.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, southwest winds will strengthen overnight and into Saturday morning, reaching sustained speeds of 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph in some areas. The High Wind Warning will remain in effect from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. PDT Saturday, while a Wind Advisory continues until 8 p.m. Saturday for coastal ranges and exposed headlands.
The strongest winds are forecast for capes, headlands, and along Highway 101, where high-profile vehicles could face difficult driving conditions. The warning includes Curry, Coos, and Douglas Counties.
Forecasters warn that the winds could knock down trees, scatter debris, and cause scattered power outages, particularly in exposed and coastal areas such as Cape Blanco, Humbug Mountain, and Port Orford.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, use caution when driving, and prepare for possible power interruptions through Saturday evening.
