Portland, Oregon – If you’re looking for the brightest summer day across Oregon, Saturday will deliver the most sunshine, but clouds and cooler air move in by Sunday, August 3. The National Weather Service in Portland says a weakening Pacific system will bring changing conditions statewide, prompting some shifts for outdoor plans and travel.
According to NWS Portland, coastal areas will start with morning clouds on Saturday before clearing to partly sunny skies and highs between 63 and 68°F. By Sunday, the coast turns mostly cloudy with cooler temps near 61-65°F. In the interior valleys, including Portland, Salem, and Eugene, expect mostly sunny skies Saturday with highs pushing 83-87°F, dropping to 75-79°F and mostly cloudy Sunday.
Travelers in the Cascades should watch for mostly sunny conditions Saturday (highs 73-79°F), but by Sunday, clouds increase and there’s a chance of showers, especially over Linn and Lane County Cascades, with highs dipping to 65-71°F. Mountain drivers should prepare for possible wet roads and limited visibility by Sunday afternoon.
NWS Portland advises Oregonians to make the most of Saturday’s sun, charge mobile devices for travel, and keep an eye on updates as conditions may shift quickly. Another advisory may be issued if Pacific systems strengthen.
