Portland, Ore. – Mariners along the Oregon coast face dangerous navigation conditions as a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through 9 a.m. Monday from Cape Shoalwater, Washington, to Florence, Oregon.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, visibility could fall to less than a half nautical mile overnight as fog thickens across the inner coastal waters. The advisory covers nearshore zones from Cape Falcon to Cape Foulweather and into central Oregon waters near Florence.

The greatest impact is expected late Sunday evening through early Monday morning, when visibility may drop to near zero at times. Mariners should expect difficult navigation and increased risk of collisions in shipping lanes and harbor approaches.

Boaters are urged to slow down, sound proper fog signals, and keep running lights on. The Coast Guard also recommends using radar and compass navigation until conditions improve. Those planning early morning departures should consider delaying until after the advisory expires.

Dense fog is expected to gradually lift by mid-morning Monday, but additional advisories may be issued if conditions persist.
