Bandon, OR – Early Friday morning, two earthquakes struck just off the Oregon coast, causing mild tremors in surrounding areas. At 1:08 a.m. PST, a magnitude 3.4 earthquake hit 255 kilometers west of Bandon at a depth of 10 kilometers. Shortly after, at 1:08 a.m. PST, a second quake, registering 2.6, struck 73 kilometers west of Pacific City at a depth of 26.3 kilometers.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), no damage was reported, and no tsunami warnings were issued. While the quakes were minor, they serve as a reminder of the region’s seismic activity along the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

The USGS invites residents to share their experiences online to help scientists assess community impact. Although small, these quakes contribute to scientists’ understanding of the tectonic dynamics off the Oregon coast.

Experts encourage residents in the Pacific Northwest to prepare for possible future quakes, as the area remains susceptible to larger seismic events. No immediate aftershocks were reported.
