Medford, OR – The National Weather Service in Medford has issued multiple wind alerts spanning from 8 p.m. Friday through 8 p.m. PDT Saturday, warning of strong southwest winds expected across southern Oregon and far northern California.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for the South Central Oregon Coast, including Coos Bay, North Bend, Port Orford, Bandon, and Reedsport, where winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are forecast from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Meanwhile, a Wind Advisory covers Central Douglas County, Eastern Curry County, Josephine County, and interior areas such as Lake, Modoc, and Siskiyou counties in northern California, including the Weed area and Shasta Valley. These regions can expect gusts between 45 and 55 mph, particularly along Highways 299, 395, and 140.

According to the NWS, gusty winds may cause power outages, blow around unsecured objects, and make travel difficult—especially for high-profile vehicles. Coastal residents are urged to secure outdoor items, and drivers should use caution on exposed roadways.

Conditions are expected to ease late Saturday evening as the storm system exits the region.
