Klamath Falls, OR – Residents along the Oregon–California border should prepare for a sharp temperature drop as the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Freeze Watch beginning late Friday night, October 3, through Saturday morning, October 4.

According to the NWS office in Medford, sub-freezing lows between 26 and 32 degrees are possible, with some areas likely dipping even colder Saturday night. The Freeze Watch covers the Klamath Basin, Central and Eastern Lake County in Oregon, and Modoc and Northeast Siskiyou Counties in California.

Cities under the advisory include Klamath Falls, Lakeview, Alturas, Tulelake, and Dorris. Rural areas such as Fort Rock, Paisley, and New Pine Creek are also included.

Forecasters warn that frost and freezing conditions may kill crops, damage gardens, and harm unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are advised to take protective measures now, such as covering sensitive vegetation and insulating pipes.

The alert highlights a seasonal shift as colder nights arrive in the high desert and mountain valleys. Farmers and gardeners are especially urged to act quickly to protect late-season harvests.

This Freeze Watch is in effect from late Friday night through Saturday morning, with the potential for additional freezing conditions into Saturday night.
