Orangeburg, SC – Deputies with the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a contained situation Tuesday after an attempted warrant service led to a brief standoff on Columbia Road.

According to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, deputies went to a residence on the 4400 block of Columbia Road around 11:45 a.m. to serve a warrant on a subject. “My deputies went to serve a warrant on a subject at a Columbia Road residence, and the subject refused to come out,” Ravenell said. “We’d ask that you avoid traveling in the area to prevent traffic build up.”

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed the scene was quickly contained and that there was no danger to nearby residents. Authorities have not released details about the individual involved or the nature of the warrant.

Deputies temporarily restricted access to parts of Columbia Road as a precaution. Traffic delays were reported near the area but have since cleared.

Residents are asked to stay alert for any official updates through the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
