Orlando, FL – Authorities in Central Florida have released graphic body-worn camera footage showing a deputy-involved shooting that unfolded late last month while deputies were surveilling a homicide suspect in an Orlando neighborhood.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), the incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. on December 26, 2025, in the 2200 block of Buchanan Bay Circle in Orlando, Orange County, near the greater Orlando metro area. Deputies with the OCSO felony unit were conducting surveillance on a suspect connected to a Christmas Eve homicide and were preparing to serve a search warrant.

Investigators said the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Cory Leon Andrews, allegedly came out of the residence armed with a handgun and opened fire on deputies, striking one of their unmarked vehicles. A deputy returned fire, striking Andrews. Deputies then rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived and transported him to a hospital.

Andrews survived the shooting and has since been charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm and shooting into an occupied vehicle. According to deputies, Andrews allegedly attempted to flee back into the residence but was stopped by members of the felony unit. He remains a suspect in the ongoing homicide investigation.

As required under standard protocol, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has taken over the investigation into the shooting. The findings will be forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office for review.

OCSO officials confirmed the deputy who fired their weapon has been placed on temporary paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the FDLE investigation.

The sheriff’s office said the video was released in the interest of transparency but warned viewers that the footage contains graphic images and language.
