Rome, NY – A Utica man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after deputies say he violated a court-issued order of protection during a domestic-related incident in the City of Rome.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, the arrest occurred around 3 p.m. on January 14, 2026, after a walk-in complaint was filed at the Waterville Field Office regarding a reported protection order violation on Harbor Way in Rome.

Following an investigation by the Road Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigation Unit, deputies determined that Miguel Santiago, 42, had allegedly contacted the protected victim multiple times over the phone and through text messages without legitimate purpose—actions that authorities say violated the existing order of protection.

Santiago was subsequently charged with Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree (E Felony) and Aggravated Harassment in the 2nd Degree (A Misdemeanor).

He was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing and later brought to CAP Court for arraignment.

Authorities have not released additional details about the domestic case, and no further updates were available as of press time.
