Oneida County, NY – A Oneida County man already incarcerated on separate charges now faces two additional counts of criminal contempt after allegedly violating an active stay-away order involving his children, authorities said.
According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, Director of the county’s Child Advocacy Center, announced the arrest of Joseph Mickle, 39, following an investigation launched earlier this month.
Investigators say Sergeant Melissa Bolton began looking into possible phone contact between Mickle and his two children on January 5, 2026, a direct violation of a court-issued order of protection. The order, which barred Mickle from any contact with the children, was still in effect at the time of the alleged incident.
Mickle, who is currently being held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility, was arrested on January 29, 2026, and charged with two counts of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a Class A misdemeanor, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Court the same day and ordered held on $25,000 cash bail, $75,000 bond, or a $200,000 partially secured surety bond. Authorities confirmed Mickle will appear in Whitestown Court at a later date.
