Oneida County, NY Crash: Driver Killed After Car Strikes Tree Sunday Night

Lee, NY – One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash late Sunday evening in the Town of Lee, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to Steadman Road around 8:40 p.m. on November 2, 2025, after receiving an iPhone crash notification reporting a possible motor vehicle accident.

According to Sheriff Robert Maciol, deputies arrived to find a vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, who was the sole occupant, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators believe the vehicle was traveling south on Steadman Road when it lost control and exited the eastern shoulder before colliding with the tree.

The victim’s name has not yet been released pending notification of family. Authorities say the crash remains under investigation.

Steadman Road was closed for several hours during the investigation but has since reopened to the public. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by New York State Police, the Lee Center Volunteer Fire Department, and Amcare Ambulance.
