Marcy, NY – Two Marcy residents were arrested after 46 animals were seized from a local farm.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, a Town of Marcy man and woman were taken into custody on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, following a months-long animal cruelty investigation at Farmore Farm.

Authorities said the investigation began Oct. 6, 2025, when approximately 9:30 a.m., members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit and the Susquehanna SPCA responded to the property regarding concerns about animal welfare. Investigators and veterinarians allegedly determined that multiple animals were lacking proper sustenance and medical treatment for various conditions.

On Oct. 9, 2025, 46 animals were surrendered by the farm owners due to their condition and need for immediate medical care, according to the Sheriff’s Office. A search warrant was executed at the farm on Oct. 21, 2025, leading to the formal seizure of the animals.

Following further investigation by the Criminal Investigations Unit and the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office, Gayle D. Bunn, 52, and Peter J. Bunn, 54, both of Marcy, were charged with nine counts of Agriculture and Markets Law 353, overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, and failure to provide proper sustenance, all misdemeanors.

Authorities said both individuals were processed at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building, released, and issued appearance tickets returnable to Marcy Town Court at a later date.

The Sheriff’s Office credited the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office, Susquehanna SPCA, Oneida Equine Service, Leatherstocking Veterinary Group, ASPCA, Rome Humane Society and volunteers for assisting in the investigation.

The case may be of particular interest to local agricultural students and young workers involved in animal care programs across Oneida County.
