Utica, NY – A coordinated fugitive task force operation led to the arrest of a teenager indicted in a 2024 Utica homicide, along with a second arrest tied to a separate shooting investigation, authorities confirmed Tuesday.
According to the City of Utica Police Department, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force conducted several high-profile target raids on Tuesday, January 6. Agencies involved included the U.S. Marshals Service, Utica Police, New York State Police, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Oneida County Probation, and the New Hartford Police Department.
The first apprehension involved Charles Bryant, 19, of Utica, who was allegedly wanted in connection with the November 8, 2024 homicide of Keyamonie Davis. Police said Bryant had been indicted shortly after the homicide by an Oneida County Grand Jury on charges including second-degree murder. Authorities located Bryant on the 1100 block of Rutger Street after he had allegedly evaded arrest for months.
Police stated that with Bryant now in custody, individuals involved in Davis’ death are officially entering the Oneida County criminal justice system.
Later Tuesday morning, task force members arrested a second individual in connection with a separate shooting investigation that occurred on Roberts Street in May 2025. According to police, the suspect is a 17-year-old male who had also been indicted by an Oneida County Grand Jury.
Due to the suspect’s age, authorities said his name will not be released. He was transported to the Oneida County Jail for processing. A full list of charges is expected to be released at a later time.
Utica police credited partner agencies and the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office for their continued assistance throughout the investigations.
