Oneida County Fatal Crash: Vehicle Hits Tree on Blackmans Corners Road

Verona, NY – A late-night crash in Oneida County left one person dead and another seriously injured after a vehicle struck a tree on Blackmans Corners Road, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were called to the scene around 9:50 p.m. on Nov. 18 for a report of a motor-vehicle accident involving injuries.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was traveling northwest on Blackmans Corners Road in the Town of Verona when the driver allegedly lost control and left the roadway. The car then collided with a tree, causing significant damage.

Deputies said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the crash. A passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported to Wynn Hospital for treatment. No names are being released at this time, pending family notifications.

Blackmans Corners Road was shut down for the duration of the investigation but has since reopened to the public. Authorities have not yet released details about possible contributing factors such as speed, weather, or impairment. The cause remains under investigation by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

Verona Fire Department and Vineall Ambulance assisted at the scene.

Residents in the area reported emergency crews working for several hours overnight as investigators documented the crash site.
