Kankakee County, IL – A fatal crash early this morning on Interstate 57 has resulted in the death of one person. The collision took place near the 322-mile marker, close to the Manteno exit.
According to the Illinois State Police, the incident occurred shortly after dawn. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, with the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office involved in the ongoing examination.
As of now, traffic on the northbound lanes of I-57 is restricted to a single lane, causing delays in the area. Authorities are urging motorists to use caution while traveling through the scene and to expect continued congestion as the investigation progresses.
