Omaha, NE – A sharp blast of Arctic air will sweep into eastern Nebraska this weekend, bringing the coldest conditions of the season and creating a frigid start to next week.
According to the US National Weather Service Omaha/Valley, temperatures will plummet Saturday night through Monday morning, with overnight lows dropping into the teens and low 20s. Strong northwest winds will make it feel even colder, with wind chills in the single digits to near 12°F both Sunday and Monday mornings.
Daytime highs will struggle to reach the 30s Sunday before gradually recovering next week. Forecasters are urging residents to protect outdoor plumbing, plants, and pets, as freezing conditions could last well into Monday morning.
Drivers and parents should also plan ahead for a very cold Monday commute, with frosty windshields and icy spots possible in rural and shaded areas.
This cold snap will be brief but sharp — temperatures are expected to rebound into the 40s and 50s by midweek as the region returns to near-normal November weather.
