Omaha, Neb. – Drivers across eastern Nebraska may face patchy fog and isolated thunderstorms early Tuesday morning, with the National Weather Service warning of reduced visibility and the chance of gusty winds. Conditions are expected to improve by midmorning, allowing for a mostly sunny afternoon in the Omaha metro.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, showers and storms could briefly develop across southeast Nebraska before sunrise Tuesday. Any stronger cells may produce heavy rainfall and wind gusts near 40 mph. Fog is also likely to settle in after 5 a.m. along and northeast of a line from Albion to Columbus into Omaha, potentially slowing the morning commute.

Southwest Iowa and surrounding areas are included in the outlook, though forecasters note conditions will stabilize by Tuesday afternoon. Spotters are asked to report rainfall totals over an inch, hail over a half-inch, or severe wind gusts to the Omaha office.

No additional hazardous weather is expected after Tuesday, with dry skies holding through the weekend.
