OMAHA, Neb. – Drivers across eastern Nebraska are waking up to dangerous travel conditions Thursday morning as patchy, dense fog blankets the region, cutting visibility to under a mile in some areas. The National Weather Service says the fog is most concentrated in low-lying valleys and along major roadways, including stretches of I-80 and Highway 275.

According to the National Weather Service office in Omaha/Valley, the fog formed in the pre-dawn hours and is expected to gradually lift after sunrise. Motorists in Omaha, Lincoln, Fremont, and surrounding communities should allow extra travel time and drive with caution until conditions improve.

Transportation officials warn that sudden drops in visibility can occur, especially on rural roads and near rivers. Drivers are urged to use low-beam headlights, keep a greater following distance, and listen for oncoming traffic before entering intersections.

While the fog will thin out mid-morning, another round of patchy fog is possible in the coming days as humid conditions persist. Commuters should stay alert for additional advisories.
