Omaha, NE – The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley has issued an alert for slippery and snow-covered roads across parts of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa Saturday into early Sunday as light snow spreads through the region.
According to the National Weather Service, the best chance for 1–2 inches of accumulation will be along a line from Norfolk to Omaha to Red Oak, Iowa, where visibility reductions and slick conditions are possible. There is also a 10–20% chance that heavier snow bands could shift slightly south toward the Omaha and Council Bluffs metro area.
Travelers are urged to allow extra time and use caution, especially Saturday night when snow intensity is highest. Even light accumulations can cause hazardous driving conditions on untreated roads, particularly in rural and elevated areas.
Forecasters say snow should taper off by early Sunday morning, followed by improving travel conditions later in the day. Drivers can monitor the latest updates and road conditions before traveling this weekend.
