Omaha, NE – St. Patrick’s Day in Omaha and western Iowa will bring warm, sunny weather, but winter isn’t done yet. A midweek storm is expected to bring rain, blustery winds, and even snow to the region as spring officially begins Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday will be sunny and warm, with highs near 78°F and south winds up to 25 mph. Tuesday will also be mild, reaching 73°F, but by Tuesday night, a strong cold front will move in, bringing rain and gusty winds up to 32 mph.
By Wednesday, temperatures will drop to a high of just 47°F. Snow is likely, with rain mixing in early before changing to all snow. Winds could gust up to 38 mph, making travel hazardous. Motorists on I-80 and I-29 should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads.
By Wednesday night, skies will clear, but temperatures will plummet to 28°F. Thursday will be sunny but cool, with a high near 55°F. Warmer temperatures return by Friday, with a high of 58°F and a slight chance of rain.
