Omaha, NE – Residents across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa should prepare for a cooler, damp start to the week as rain showers move in late Monday and continue into Tuesday, according to the US National Weather Service Omaha/Valley.

Temperatures today are expected to top out in the upper 60s before scattered showers spread across the region overnight. The Weather Service reports rain chances increasing to between 40–75% by Tuesday, with highs near 60 to 68 degrees and lows around 53 to 61.

According to the forecast, conditions will turn warmer and breezier midweek, with highs rising into the upper 70s to low 80s on Wednesday and Thursday. Spotty showers may return by Friday, followed by mostly clear skies through the weekend.

Meteorologists note that while rain totals are not expected to be excessive, the wet start could lead to slick roads and slower commutes Tuesday morning. Cooler air returns late week, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s by Sunday.

The Weather Service advises residents to monitor updates as temperatures fluctuate and additional rain chances develop midweek.
