Oklahoma residents can expect a final day of scorching temperatures, with highs reaching up to 98°F in some areas before relief arrives. Cities including Woodward and Enid will see temperatures in the mid-to-high 90s. However, cooler air is forecast to move into northern Oklahoma late Sunday, bringing much-needed relief after a record-setting heatwave.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, a cold front will begin impacting areas like Ponca City and Enid by Sunday afternoon, offering a 40-60% chance of highs in the 70s. Areas farther south, including Oklahoma City and Lawton, will remain hot, with highs in the upper 90s expected today. Residents in these southern regions will see temperatures drop starting on Monday.

Drivers on highways such as I-40 should stay hydrated and plan for the heat when traveling today, as the region experiences the last day of summer-like conditions. For those in northern Oklahoma, cooler temperatures are forecast to settle in as early as Sunday evening, with highs dropping into the 70s and 80s across the region by Monday.

The cool-down will be more pronounced by mid-week. Oklahoma City is expected to see highs in the low 70s by Wednesday, while Woodward could drop into the 60s.
