Tulsa, OK – Eastern Oklahoma residents can expect light rain showers today, with the highest rain chances in far eastern counties near Arkansas. Rainfall amounts will remain minimal, generally under a tenth of an inch. However, significant weather changes are on the way as a strong Arctic cold front moves in late Friday into Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, breezy south winds will increase Friday afternoon, with gusts up to 30 mph. Temperatures will reach a high near 59 degrees before dropping sharply overnight as the cold front pushes through. Saturday’s high will hover around 33 degrees, with wind gusts up to 25 mph adding to the chill.
By Saturday night, temperatures will plummet into the teens, accompanied by a chance of snow flurries. While no significant snow accumulation is expected, the real danger comes from bitterly cold wind chills. Starting Sunday, gusty winds will push wind chills below zero, making outdoor exposure hazardous.
Sunday’s high will struggle to reach 27 degrees, and temperatures will remain frigid through Tuesday, with Monday night’s low dipping to 13 degrees. Residents are urged to dress warmly and limit outdoor exposure during the coldest periods.
Drivers should remain cautious on area roadways, including I-44 and Highway 412, as slick spots could develop overnight into Saturday morning. Stay updated with the latest forecasts to prepare for this week’s Arctic blast.
