TULSA, Okla. – A late-season warmup will send temperatures soaring across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas this weekend, with highs near 90 degrees expected by Sunday before holding in the upper 80s into early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, this stretch of unseasonable warmth will be one of the longest of the fall so far, with daily highs running 10 to 15 degrees above normal. Most areas — including Tulsa, Muskogee, Fort Smith, and Fayetteville — will see overnight lows only dipping into the low to mid-60s, keeping mornings unusually mild.

The region’s pattern also remains notably dry. According to NWS Tulsa, rain chances stay near zero through Saturday, with only a slight uptick to 10–20% by Monday or Tuesday as weak disturbances pass north of the area. Forecasters expect any showers to be brief and isolated, offering little relief for parched lawns and late-season agriculture.

Drivers and outdoor event planners can count on excellent travel and recreation weather but should take precautions against heat exposure during midday hours, especially for youth sports and festivals. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid leaving children or pets in vehicles, and continue watering gardens as needed.

While no major fronts are on the horizon, forecasters hint at a gradual cooldown toward the middle of next week as southerly winds ease and humidity increases slightly.
