OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – A silvery frost glistens across lawns and windshields this morning as central Oklahoma wakes to near-freezing air. The chill won’t last long — a fast warmup is on the way, promising sunny skies and highs near 70 by early Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, a Frost Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. for much of central and southern Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City, Norman, Shawnee, Purcell, Ada, and Ardmore. Temperatures briefly dipped to around 32°F in low-lying and rural areas, enough to damage sensitive outdoor vegetation. Residents are urged to uncover plants only after the sun clears early frost this morning.

By late morning, the atmosphere will shift. Light southerly winds will return, pulling in mild, dry air. Sunshine will dominate through Tuesday, with highs climbing into the low to mid-70s and lows moderating in the 50s. The pattern looks stable into midweek, giving residents a chance to handle yard cleanup or prep for early holiday decorations before the next change.

Long-range models from NOAA and the Climate Prediction Center continue to point to a weak La Niña influence lasting through winter. For now, that means mostly dry, warm conditions for the southern Plains — but it could also set the stage for sharper cold swings later in November, especially if northern storm tracks dip south.

For now, it’s a crisp, classic Oklahoma start to November: chilly dawns, sunny afternoons, and a steady hint that winter’s not far away.
