Oklahoma – Strong winds are already beginning to stir across Tulsa this morning, and conditions will ramp up quickly by midday as gusts push toward 40 mph. Dry air and warm temperatures are combining to create a heightened fire risk, especially across open areas north of I-44.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from 10 a.m. through 9 p.m., with sustained winds between 15 and 25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph. Elevated fire weather conditions are expected by midday across eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas due to low humidity and strong winds.

Temperatures climb to near 87°F today under sunny skies, adding to the dry and breezy setup. Drivers along I-44, Highway 75, and the Creek Turnpike should prepare for sudden crosswinds, especially in high-profile vehicles. Secure outdoor items now before winds peak this afternoon.

Conditions remain breezy into tonight, but attention quickly shifts to increasing storm chances. By Tuesday night, scattered thunderstorms begin developing, with a 50 percent chance of storms moving into the Tulsa area.

Storm activity becomes more widespread Wednesday into Wednesday night, with rain chances climbing to 90 percent. Some storms may produce heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and small hail as a cold front moves through the region.

By Thursday, additional showers and thunderstorms remain likely, keeping roads wet and travel slower during peak hours. Rain chances gradually decrease into Friday, though isolated storms may linger.

This active spring pattern will continue into early April, with changing conditions day to day. Stay alert for updates, especially with today’s fire risk and midweek storms approaching. Traveling today or later this week? What conditions are you seeing near you?
