Oklahoma City, OK – Central Oklahoma gets a calm start to July, but a midweek storm chance and a scorching Fourth of July will quickly change the tone.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, Tuesday, July 1 will be partly sunny and dry, with a high of 88°F and a light east breeze. Wednesday afternoon brings a 20% chance of thunderstorms, with localized downpours possible in Oklahoma City and along the I-35 corridor. No severe storms are forecast, but outdoor plans may face brief delays.

After that, all eyes turn to Friday, July 4, which is shaping up to be hot and sunny with a high of 94°F. Heat index values could climb higher, and minimal cloud cover means residents should plan for intense sun during parades, fireworks, and outdoor celebrations.

Overnight lows stay near the mid-70s, offering little relief. Thursday and Saturday will both be mostly sunny and near 90°F. Use caution during extended time outside, stay hydrated, and wear sunscreen through the weekend.

By Sunday, another 20% chance of storms returns—but the dominant theme is dry heat for the Fourth of July weekend.

More updates may follow if Wednesday’s storm risk increases. Stay tuned for alerts and prepare now for Friday’s heat.
