Oklahoma could see a sharp shift Sunday night as thunderstorms move into the Oklahoma City metro and surrounding counties. Storm chances increase late Sunday, and drivers on I-35 and I-40 should prepare for wet pavement and reduced visibility.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, showers may develop as early as Sunday night, with a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Some storms could linger into Monday morning, bringing the potential for localized flooding on low-lying roads. Northeast winds between 6 and 9 mph will help keep conditions unsettled into Monday night.

Sunday’s daytime hours remain mostly sunny, with highs near 90 before clouds build and storm chances rise overnight. By Monday, storms become more widespread, especially after midnight, with temperatures dropping into the low 60s.

Showers and storms remain possible through midweek, with the most likely window for heavier rain stretching from Monday night through Tuesday afternoon. By Wednesday, precipitation chances lower but remain a concern, with additional showers possible into Friday.

Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain and to monitor local alerts for updated advisories. With several days of unsettled weather ahead, charging devices and preparing for possible power outages is recommended.

Storms should taper by late week, but forecasters warn another round of showers may return by next weekend.
